She just won't be able to get a neat & tightly folded book without actually damaging the material in the process. Of course, your character can invent the codex at any time papyrus was available. The material will eventually crumble along the fold. The thick fibres make it difficult, though not impossible to fold. It's an okay writing surface, though not as nice and smooth as vellum or paper. It's made by pasting layers of plant fibre together, horizontal over vertical. If you've never worked with papyrus, it is a rather thick, quite heavy duty material. Also, you can see clearly that the papyrus fold is not as tight as that obtainable with either rag or wood pulp paper. It is not until the fifth century when the NT was received as an authoritative body of texts. During the process, one can hear the snapping of the vertical fibres and feel the slightly jagged edge where the layer separated. The is a book of folded papyrus sheets, stitched together. The back side of the same region before folding:Īs you can see, the papyrus is folded. Here at the Practical Geopoetry Foundation, we have obtained a fresh, unfolded papyrus scroll, fresh from the antiquities market of old Cairo:Ī detail of the area to be folded, showing the large strands of fibre: The answer(s) are no it can't and yes it will break. Your question is can papyrus be creased as tightly as paper can, or does it break? Although you've already gotten basic answers, I'll address the specifics of your question.Īs others have stated, yes papyrus can be "folded" and yes, papyrus can be "folded" into books.

Your help would be very greatly appreciated, thanks all. Project setup Implementing live reload with Node. Rather than ramble on, I'll get to it: does anyone have an open source project where they are using Docker and Webpack development server with their Rails project? Even better would be if you are using TailwindCSS, but I will take what I can get. suddenly the problem will be fixed again. Then, reverting the very same configuration modification I had made to fix the problem on the last occurrence. Webpack dev server seems very finicky and hacky, I can make certain configuration modifications and get the desired behavior, then it will break without changing anything (Ex: the Tailwind utility classes are no longer detected and so all styling is removed from the present view). The live reload feature does not work with my configuration, and any time I make a change to a utility class in my view template files (via Tailwind), I have to stop the server and restart it, which is very frustrating. In short, Webpack has been a massive headache to work with. I have also configured TailwindCSS for this project. I am using Docker Compose to spin up one container for my application server and another for webpack, which runs webpack-development-server. I don't mean for this to be a debugging thread so I won't go into too much detail, but here are the circumstances: Try /r/railsjobs, /r/forhire, or the following job sites: Looking for work, or need to hire Rails developers? That strikes me as going a little too far, but what the heck. Just recently I found photos of a Willys gasser build in which the builder applied dust to the body and matte-clearcoated the dust onto the paint, so now the car has permanent dust. Fauxtina: faking a worn paint job, patina, or rust in order to make a build seem like it has a long history or a story to tell. Once patina builds became a celebration of a vehicle's history, builders began to match the existing worn paint when doing repairs, which led to. Often these patterns of naturally worn paint were quite aesthetically pleasing. the farm-truck trend: fondness for vehicles that have "been around" and acquired scars and patterns indicative of a long, useful life. the traditional and "barn find" trends: old hot rods and customs are finally being recognized as culturally significant and are being preserved, scars and all. the rat-rod trend, bucking the high-dollar street-rod trend by fetishizing raw and rough engineering and details. There were definitely rust-crusty rat rods being built around the same timeframe, but again, don't recall seeing much in the way of rusty rat rods prior to 2004.Īs for why it started.well, a combination of things: There must have been some, but they really caught on by 2010. I don't recall seeing much in the way of patina builds before about 2006. Now of course there's the fake patina, the fake worn off shop truck lettering, the fake patina applied to a fiberglass body( Yes, it's been done). and maybe a little rust here and there, but hey, it's a badge of passage, a sign that this baby's been around for awhile. Ok, it's just worn off, all these years of rubbin', washin' waxin', you know. Maybe do some other safety related chores, brakes, hoses, etc. Well, ok, maybe you'll have to negotiate an agreeable price. Probably replace those old worn out tires. Looks like you could get in, start it up and drive away. Now out in the day light you get a look at a time capsule put to bed years ago. As a 1:1 thing, imagine pulling an old car out from under a pile of junk knowing what you've got, but what shape is it in ?

That’s what everyone else is forgetting.” Curt Forbes took Marilyn away from me, but she would have wanted her husband to love her son. He continued, “My son is living in a world of lies. I need them to help me fix things with my son,” Lane said. Nobody approached me and said ‘I’m sorry.’ All I got from people was cold indifference. “They also keep me separated from my son. But even after that no one approached me and said, ‘Gee Lane, we judged you kind of harshly.’ By not saying they’re sorry it doesn’t give me a chance to forgive them, which would have been healing for us both.” “Curt Forbes is in prison and people understand I didn’t do it. “I don’t speak to my family and I don’t speak to my son,” McIntyre said. Lane’s pain persists, not only for his lost family, but for the betrayal of friends and family who did nothing to show either support during his presumed guilt or absolution after his proven innocence. Lane has no contact information, but knows he lives in Janesville. Lane is estranged from his son, Christopher, who now has a daughter. Lane now has a long-term girlfriend tolerant enough to let him hang a photo of his first love on their bedroom wall. She would have wanted us to have closure.”Īfter the murder Lane McIntyre married Cindy Dowdell, a cousin to Debra Attleson. “There are so many people that loved Marilyn - still do - always will. “All of that pain - that baggage - I could finally let go,” Lane McIntryre said in a recent interview with the Daily Citizen. After 30 years the crime had finally been solved. When Forbes’ guilt was pronounced, many in the courtroom gasped. Blood evidence was also found in a sink that inconclusively linked Forbes to the crime. A phone call from Forbes to his fiancée indicated there was a bloody shirt, although she denied any knowledge of it. Pivotal in the conviction was testimony that Forbes was wearing a bloody shirt on March 11, which Forbes’ girlfriend (later wife) Debra Attleson may or may not have seen and her parents may or may not have washed. Despite having long gone cold, Columbia County investigators blazed forward and Forbes was charged. Investigation faltered and there seemed to be no progress until the case was reopened in 2009. An autopsy report said she was bludgeoned, strangled and stabbed in the apartment while her 3-month-old son Christopher, lay quietly and unhurt in his crib.įingers were pointed and suspicion ran high in Columbus where the couple was surrounded by friends and family - one of them being Curtis Forbes, who left the community shortly after the murder occurred. that day he returned home from work to find Marilyn’s body on the living room floor. Lane McIntyre still clings to the memory of his young bride, his infant son, and all the promise that life held up to the fateful morning of March 11, 1980. The aftermath is still raw, and people seem stuck in the past - a past scarred by Marilyn’s murder, and haunted by things that might have been but never were. 12 shows that life has not gone on as many had hoped. An Investigation Discovery program set to air on Jan. When a “48 Hours” program about the murder of Marilyn McIntyre aired in 2011, it suggested that life could finally go on for her family and friends.
